Ukraine`s gross domestic product (GDP) rose 5.2 percent in 2011, up 1 percent year on year and beating the 2011 growth forecast for the EU, State Committee of Statistics said Monday, according to Xinhua.

Nominal GDP in Ukraine amounted to 164.25 billion U.S. dollars in 2011 from 136.87 billion dollars in 2010, the organization reported on its website.

Compared with the EU, whose GDP growth for 2011 is expected to be 3.2 percent, Ukraine performed well in a year during which countries across the globe suffered economic turbulence.
