Canada: statements by Ukrainian officials about Canadian doctors are false

Joseph Lavoie, spokesman for Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird, says the three Canadian members of the medical team that examined former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko in the Kachanivska prison are highly qualified medical practitioners, according to the Official web site of Yulia Tymoshenko.

According to Joseph Lavoie, the doctors conducted their examination upholding the highest medical standards, especially with respect to their objectivity and ethics.

"The fields of expertise of the Canadian doctors complemented the specializations of the German physicians," RFE/RL’s Ukrainian service quoted him as saying.

He also stressed that the Canadian medical team’s observations were in no way influenced by any external factors.
