Vlasenko: there is no legal basis to charge Yulia Tymoshenko with treason
Lawyer Serhiy Vlasenko...
Lawyer Serhiy Vlasenko says there are no legal grounds for a opening a criminal case against Yulia Tymoshenko on charges of treason, according to the Official web site of Yulia Tymoshenko.
“There are no legal grounds for this. But we witnessed the absurdity during the ‘gas case’ trial in the Pechersk District Court when white was called black, green was called red, and then this was all included in the sentence and the appeals court left this sentence in force,” Serhiy Vlasenko told journalists in Kharkiv.
However, the lawyer doesn’t rule out that a criminal case will be opened based on the material presented today by the parliamentary ad hoc committee. “They can write on orders from Yanukovych that Tymoshenko killed Christ, they will find witnesses who say they saw it, and Inna Hermanivna [Bohoslovska] will sign the committee report. If orders are given to write that Tymoshenko killed President Kennedy, they will do so and will even say that as a young girl Yulia Tymoshenko crossed the border to kill President Kennedy,” Serhiy Vlasenko said ironically.
Serhiy Vlasenko also said the authorities are trying to avoid fulfilling the request of the European Court of Human Rights to treat Yulia Tymoshenko in a hospital. “They’re saying that in the recommendations made by the German physicians there are procedures that can’t be done in a cell, therefore they want to do these procedures outside the prison and everything else in the cell or near the cell or somewhere else. But in no way do they want to treat Tymoshenko in a normal, logical way, as written in the German doctors’ recommendations and demanded by the European Court of Human Rights,” Serhiy Vlasenko told journalists in Kharkiv.
The lawyer reiterated that “according to the conclusions of the German physicians, Yulia Tymoshenko requires comprehensive treatment that can only be provided in a specialized clinic outside the prison system.”
“At first they were denying obvious things, but now they’ve been forced to partially recognize these things. We will wait until their brains turns on and they recognize absolutely obvious things. To say that they will bring equipment from all over the Kharkiv oblast and then the Kachanivska prison will become a specialized medical clinic is absurd, but that is what the doctors of the penitentiary system are trying to say,” he said.
Serhiy Vlasenko also said that today the SBU investigator "conducted some strange proceedings” and that they tried to prevent him on fabricated reasons from seeing Yulia Tymoshenko for an hour and a half.
