Prime Minister of Ukraine Victor Yanukovych is convinced that the regular session of the Verkhovna Rada of the fifth convocation is carried out legally and poses no threat for destabilizing the situation on the eve of the snap poll, scheduled for 30 September.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, he said this today in the course of his working visit to the Lugansk Oblast.

“In line with the Constitution, the parliament works till the next convocation, and the Constitution must not be violated. Since April, we have been witnessing the unprecedented case in the history, when the President signed the law, destabilizing the work of other power branches,” he said.

The Prime Minister added that on the eve he had a long telephone conversation with President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko, in which the President explained his point of view concerning carrying out the regular Verkhovna Rada session.

“But there is also another point of view. The President cannot usurp the legislative power and the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine. There were no such precedents in any democratic states. They call themselves democrats, but they must be democrats in practice, and not merely in words”, Victor Yanukovych stressed.
