Young men and women hope to create stronger families than those in which they grew up, even without official registration of marriage, showed a poll titled the Ukrainian Youth, according to Kyiv Weekly. The survey that was held among young Ukrainians aged 16 to 21.

The majority of them creation of families is low on the agenda. Approximately 90% of respondents said they were not married and did not live in civil marriage. And only 3.5% have a child or even children. At the same time their point of view on family life is not only interesting, but essentially important to evaluate the prospects of solution of the already existing demographic problems in Ukraine and prevent creation of the new ones.

 In particular, respondents had to choose one of the given answers to the question about the most preferable kind of marriage. 30.9% of young women and 27.9% of men chose “church or officially registered marriage”; moreover, 51% of young women and 49.2% of men chose “officially registered” marriage without any church rites.

5.9% of young women and 6.8% of men spoke in favor of “only civil” marriage, “church and civil” marriage was supported by 5.3% and 6.1% respectively. 1.3% and 1.9% respectively said they were “against marriage” and 5.7% of young women and 8.2% of men refused to answer the question. So, 82% of young women and approximately 77% of young men believe it is necessary to make official families.
