Lawyer Serhiy Vlasenko says the State Penitentiary Service is trying to restrict Yulia Tymoshenko’s communication with European politicians by introducing procedures for prison visits by foreigners, according to the Official web site of Yulia Tymoshenko. "Two months ago the prison service was saying that visits are illegal and now they’ve developed a whole procedure. These are more manipulations by the prison service, which wants to artificially restrict access to Yulia Tymoshenko for representatives of European politics," said Serhiy Vlasenko.
The lawyer noted that EU Ambassador to Ukraine Jose Manuel Pinto Teixeira has repeatedly sought permission to visit Yulia Tymoshenko, but was denied. "They only allow those they consider necessary," he said.
"This order is the latest attempt to manipulate visits with Yulia Tymoshenko. Those politicians that for some reason the Ukrainian authorities like will visit her, and those they don’t won’t," he suggested.
