Party of Regions leader Victor Yanukovych is confident that President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko violates their accords, the Ukrainian legislation, and moral norms in politics. This is said in the open letter of Victor Yanukovych to Victor Yushchenko.
The letter reads: “I believe it is my duty to turn the attention of the Ukrainian society and the world community to that fact that You, Mr. President, took the road of violating the achieved agreements, the Ukrainian legislation, and moral norms in politics”.
According to Victor Yanukovych, he is forced to address the President “due to the critical situation, taking place in the state during the last weeks of the electoral campaign”.
Victor Yanukovych recalls that Victor Yushchenko, in the course of talks, has many times noted that he, being the Head of State and the Guarantor of Constitution, guarantees transparency and democracy of the electoral process, nonintervention into the electoral process, and recognizing the results of the people’s will.
At the same time, Victor Yanukovych stresses that Victor Yushchenko, as the Head of State, should have abstained from “taking part in propaganda electoral campaigns of any political force”.
“In fact, the Ukrainian Presidential Secretariat is the political head of OU-PSD Bloc’s electoral campaign. The Presidential Secretariat chiefs and some chairmen of Oblast Administrations, who are appointed by the President, fulfill duties of OU-PSD electoral HQ chiefs”, the Party of Regions leader states.
“I express a public protest as I’m alarmed with the information about orders to violate the integrity of the electoral process. It appeared that chiefs of Our Ukraine-People’s Self-Defense Bloc and the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko order their representatives in district commissions not to sign protocols on the results of voting on 30 September. First of all, they indent to do it at the polling stations, where, according to preliminary sociological data, the Party of Regions may receive a high result. According to the information, received by the Party of Regions, the respective orders have been channeled to headquarters of oppositional forces”, the open letter reads.
