The 1st sitting of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the 7th convocation started.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, Speaker of the VRU of the 6th convocation Volodymyr Lytvyn started the sitting. He congratulated lawmakers of Ukraine on election.
Lawmakers from the Batkivshchyna United opposition came to sitting in black T-shirts with a picture of Yu. Tymoshenko behind bars in front of T-shirts and with an inscription on back: “Freedom to political prisoners”. Representatives of Svoboda All-Ukrainian Union came in embroidered shirts.
Acting Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov and members of the government are present at the solemn sitting. Opposition met representatives of the government with screams: “Shame!”.
Former President of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk, judges of the Constitutional Court and Prosecutor General of Ukraine Victor Pshonka are also in the session hall.
