Yulia Tymoshenko should be released from prison because she did not commit any of the crimes she is accused of, the ex-premier’s defense has said, according to official web site of Yulia Tymoshenko.

"There isn’t much time to left to get closer to Europe. There is only one requirement - that Mr. Yanukovych make the personal decision to release Yulia Tymoshenko, who today is being kept in prison unjustly. I, as her defender, am calling on Yanukovych to urgently release Yulia Tymoshenko," Andriy Kozhemyakin said.

In his turn, Serhiy Vlasenko underlined that all decisions in the cases against Yulia Tymoshenko depend on the will of one person in Ukraine. "Yulia Tymoshenko didn’t commit the crimes she’s accused of. This applies to the murder of Yevhen Shcherban, and the UESU case, because on 11 November 2005 the Supreme Court recognized that Yulia Tymoshenko did not commit a crime," he stressed.

"Even the prosecutor’s office isn’t mentioning the case involving Kyoto money and Opel Combo vehicles. There are no cases, so there are no obstacles to the release of Yulia Tymoshenko. She has been detained unlawfully and unjustly in the Kachanivska penal colony for nearly a year and eight months. All the decisions in the cases involving Yulia Tymoshenko are made personally by Yanukovych," said Serhiy Vlasenko.

Andriy Kozhemyakin recalled how the head of state at a press conference ordered prison staff to remove the video cameras from Yulia Tymoshenko’s hospital room. "He can do anything in the country like that, including release Yulia Tymoshenko. How? Mr. president himself knows very well how people are freed who are illegally being held in prison," Yulia Tymoshenko’s legal defender stressed.
