The Pechersk District Court of Kyiv has granted the request by Yulia Tymoshenko’s legal counsel and postponed until April 26 the questioning of Petro Kyrychenko in the case of the 1996 murder of MP Yevhen Shcherban, according to the official web site of Yulia Tymoshenko.
Earlier, Yulia Tymoshenko’s lawyer Oleksandr Plakhotnyuk said that the defense has not been able to properly prepare for the questioning due the prosecution’s refusal to give them copies of reports from previous interrogations of Petro Kyrychenko and has had to rely on media reports and information contained in the notice of suspicion.
Yulia Tymoshenko today reiterated that she had nothing to do with the tragic death of Yevhen Shcherban. "This case against me was fabricated by Yanukovych to eliminate me from the 2015 presidential race," she said in a statement.
"There is not a word of truth in his testimony. But I forgive him because not everyone can resist pressure from the authoritarian regime. They forced him to give false testimony by illegally throwing his wife, Isabella Kyrychenko, behind bars," she said.
