U.S. Ambassador John Tefft still hasn’t received permission from the Ukrainian authorities to visit imprisoned former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko in the Kharkiv hospital, according to official web site of Yulia Tymoshenko.
"EU Ambassador Tombinski and I submitted a request to visit Mrs. Tymoshenko together. The same way we visited Mr. Lutsenko when he was imprisoned. But we’re still waiting for permission. And once we get it we will do so. We had hoped to visit Mrs. Tymoshenko before the holidays. However, as we were told, this was an obstacle. All the authorities in Ukraine know that we want to visit Tymoshenko," Ambassador Tefft said.
The American diplomat also stressed that the issue of Yulia Tymoshenko was discussed during the recent meeting between U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Leonid Kozhara.
