The judgment of the European Court of Human Rights in Tymoshenko v. Ukraine is grounds for the Ukrainian authorities to resolve the case of Yulia Tymoshenko on the political level, Mikael Lyngbo, an expert of the Danish Helsinki Committee on Human Rights, has said, according to the official web site of Yulia Tymoshenko.

"The decision is political. Next the political parties should think about a solution," Mikael Lyngbo said during a meeting of the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs in Strasbourg.

In his turn, Yulia Tymoshenko’s legal defender Serhiy Vlasenko stressed that the ex-premier’s prosecution is political. "This isn’t selective justice, it’s politically motivated prosecution of the government’s most dangerous opponent. And this must end by the signing of the association agreement," he said.

"The signing of an association agreement is the key aim of the Ukrainian nation. But the signing won’t take place without conditions being met. The key to the signing of the agreement is in Yanukovych’s office," Serhiy Vlasenko added.
