Yulia Tymoshenko needs to continue treatment in a hospital, chief physician of Berlin’s Charité clinic Dr. Karl Max Einhäupl has said, according official web site of Yulia Tymoshenko.

"Mrs. Tymoshenko should continue treatment in a hospital. Her discharge and return to prison would in no way be a positive decision. Moreover, certain decisions need to be made right now from a medical standpoint," Dr. Einhäupl said after visiting Yulia Tymoshenko in the Kharkiv hospital.

The German doctor noted with regret the lack of improvement in Yulia Tymoshenko’s health. "A year and a half after the start of all these events and as a result of the stagnation of the whole medical process we had to again consider the need for invasive therapy," he said.

During their private meeting they discussed with Yulia Tymoshenko the possibility of pain therapy. "We explained to the patient the necessity of such measures and discussed this issue with Yulia Tymoshenko’s lawyer. We once again informed the lawyer of the need for such measures and explained the reasons for this," Dr. Einhäupl added.

However, the doctor underscored that need to factor in Yulia Tymoshenko’s fear when prescribing treatment. "This fear complicates the treatment of the chronic disease, which is complicated by the pain syndrome. Today we’ll write up our findings and sign them. And after we learn what decision Yulia Tymoshenko has made based on all our recommendations, we can outline our next steps," he said.

"So far we’re talking about tactical measures, but also about the possibility of surgery," the doctor concluded.
