Yulia Tymoshenko meets with EP envoys

Former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko spent nearly two hours today with former Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski and former European Parliament President Pat Cox, who are monitoring the trials of Ukrainian political prisoners on behalf of the European Parliament, according to the Official web site of Yulia Tymoshenko.

The meeting took place in the Kharkiv hospital where Yulia Tymoshenko is undergoing treatment. Aleksander Kwasniewski and Pat Cox did not make any statements after the meeting.

During this latest visit to Ukraine, the EP envoys also met with representative of the parliamentary opposition, senior officials in the government and ministry of justice.

In the last week of September the European Parliament is scheduled to hear the report by Cox and Kwasniewski. Those in Brussels say this document will play a role in the decision by EU member states on whether or not to sign the association agreement with Ukraine.

The Cox-Kwasniewski mission began its work on June 11, 2012.
