Eugenia Tymoshenko is urging the EU not to leave Ukraine defenseless and stressed that Ukrainian society wants the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement to be signed, according to Official web site of Yulia Tymoshenko.

"On behalf of my mother I ask you under no circumstances to leave Ukraine without your protection. Without your support we won’t even have a chance for relatively fair elections, partially independent media, what remains of political and economic competition, and most importantly – there will be no hope for positive changes," Eugenia Tymoshenko quoted the appeal by her mother to parliaments and leaders of United Europe while speaking at the leaders meetings hosted by the European People’s Party in Vilnius, Lithuania.

She said tomorrow will be a decisive day for Ukraine. "Either Yanukovych will sign the fateful agreement on association with the EU or he will confirm to the world that he wants to build a dictatorship in Ukraine. Time outs in any form will be used only to rollback democracy," she said.

"My mother, who has been on a hunger strike now for four days in solidarity with the Ukrainian out on the EuroMaidans, sincerely believes that you, like she and a significant part of Ukrainians, feel that without Ukraine there won’t be a strong united Europe, and that without a united Europe Ukraine won’t have a successful future," Eugenia Tymoshenko said.

Yulia Tymoshenko’s daughter expressed her gratitude to the EU For their efforts in securing the release of political prisoners in Ukraine. "I sincerely thank you for your support and solidarity. My mother did everything she could for this agreement to be signed. As a true political leader fighting for her country’s future, she accepted a very difficult compromise because she believes the most important thing right now is to save Ukraine. I am proud of her," she said.

"We are thankful that European leaders continue to fight for her release. My mother understands that it’s not just about the freedom of one political prisoner – her freedom is a test of the sincerity of the Ukrainian government in adopting European values. Yanukovych’s regime failed this test," Eugenia Tymoshenko added.

There was an empty chair with Yulia Tymoshenko’s portrait at the leaders meeting.
