Participants of yesterday’s meeting of the EU at level of permanent representatives (COREPER) rejected more tough sanctions against Russia for its action in Ukraine due to hope for a success of peaceful mediatory initiatives of Germany and France.

PAP Polish News Agency with a reference to its own sources reports this.
“According to data of diplomats, the part of countries wanted a strong position of the EU, namely to add to a black lists powerful Russian politicians, and sanctions in a form of freezing the projects, which the EU co-finances in Russia. However, the majority decided to give a chance to efforts of France and Germany that are directed to solving of the crisis in Ukraine”, - notes agency.
