When asked whether it is technically possible to stop the financing of the political parties now, Novikov said: "April 21 was the deadline for the parties to give up financing for all five years of their term in parliament. On that day, a law stipulating that a party may refuse funding on the quarterly basis came into force."

Earlier, the Servant of the People Party announced it would give up funds from the budget in favor of a relief fund to fight against the coronavirus.
