Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko expects that in the nearest future Naftohaz Ukrayiny and Gazprom chiefs Olegh Dubyna and Alexey Miller will issue a joint statement about stabilizing the situation at the gas market and beginning the talks.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, Yulia Tymoshenko claimed this to a press conference in the Cabinet of Ministers today.
“I emphasize: whoever blackmails the government in order to preserve the old corruption schemes, it is no matter, who practices this blackmail, the government will not yield. We are waiting now for a joint statement of Naftohaz and Gazprom about stabilizing the situation at the gas market and the further procedure of talks”, the Prime Minister noted.
Yulia Tymoshenko also stressed that Ukraine will pay for the gas, consumed in January-February of 2008, at the price of $179.5 for a thousand cubic meters.
“In the end of the last, it was announced as a big victory that the middle-Asian gas will be supplied to Ukraine in 2008 at a price of $179.5. Such contracts, as far as I know, were concluded by Gazpromexport with central and middle-Asian countries. And Ukraine, in line with the contract, is supplied with the middle-Asian gas”, she said.
Yulia Tymoshenko recalled that all economical calculations were based on namely this price of natural gas.
“We merely cannot change prices for this year”, the Prime Minister stressed.
