Acting Ukrainian Health Minister Ulyana Suprun has said the epidemic of tuberculosis is a serious problem for the country's healthcare system.

"Now Ukraine ranks second place in Europe in terms of TB incidence (based on the number of patients per 100,000 people)," Suprun wrote on Facebook.

"Almost every fourth case of tuberculosis in Ukraine is multidrug-resistant tuberculosis, i.e. it is resistant to treatment with very effective anti-tuberculosis drugs. We are one of the world leaders in the number of patients with this form of tuberculosis," she said.

According to Suprun, various models of outpatient care for TB patients have been developed and tested in Ukraine over the past five years.

Earlier, the Ministry of Health said that fluorography as a method of diagnosing tuberculosis in Ukraine was not canceled.
