The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine denies that Ukraine is ready to pay US$ 321 for a thousand cubic meters of Russian natural gas, consumed in January-February.
According to the information of the government’s press-office, agreed with Naftohaz Ukrayiny, the information about the new gas price, disseminated by some mass media, “does not correspond to reality”.
The Cabinet of Ministers recalled that as early as today Naftohaz CEO Oleh Dubyna just leaves for Moscow to hold talks to finally agree and settle the gas relations between Ukraine and Gazprom. Only after the talks, Naftohaz Ukrayiny will inform the society about the results of the talks.
The government points out that, in the talks with Gazprom, Naftohaz follows only the directives of President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko and Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, and will not yield national interests of Ukraine.
The Cabinet of Ministers asks mass media to more thoroughly fulfill their professional duties, and do not publish deliberately false information, which deceives citizens and strengthens tension in the society.
