Storm warning issued for Ukraine and Kyiv on January 1-2
Ukraine and Kyiv will see a stormy start to the New Year, with frosty conditions, icy roads, and gusty winds throughout the country, Ukraine’s hydrometerological center said on Thursday.
"During the day on January 1 and the night into January 2 in Kyiv and Kyiv region there will be icy conditions on the roads," the center said in a statement on its Web site.
It is also said that in Ukraine in general, "on January 2 on the roads in some places there will be ice, and during the day in western and northern regions there will be wind gusts of 15-20 meters per second in some places.”
UNIAN reported earlier that bad weather is expected across much of Ukraine, with snow falls of from 10-40 centimeters, and ice on the roads.
