President of the European Council Donald Tusk has said Ukrainians are an inspiration to Europe.

"Ukrainians are an inspiration to us all. When necessary, heroes. When necessary, pragmatists with your feet firmly on the ground," he wrote on Twitter on February 19, 2019 following the participation in the commemoration of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes together with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Tusk is visiting Ukraine on February 18-20.

On February 18, during a meeting with Poroshenko, he expressed the conviction that the best way to pay respect to the Heavenly Hundred Heroes is to continue reforms and further develop democratic institutions. Tusk has called for continued efforts aimed at reforming Ukraine.

Later on Tuesday, Tusk will address the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament.
