Interior Minister says "terrifying fines" coming as speed cameras set to start operating before year-end
Before the end of the year, a system of traffic enforcement cameras will start operating across Ukrainian motorways, said Interior Minister Arsen Avakov.
In an interview with Dmytro Gordon, Avakov said: “Almost everything has already been prepared. Almost everything is ready. We lack some minor details, a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers, and an amendment to the law to be adopted by parliament,” the Ministry's press service wrote.
“I think this year we will launch speed cameras across. First, it will be 30 working cameras, then 50, then 150… I think the limit will be 1,000 cameras," the minister added." But the fines imposed due to these cameras will be terrifying. I'm not sure our society is ready for such an innovation."
