Secretariat controls battery case, Poludionny

At today’s mass media briefing, Mykola Poludionny, President’s Legal Advisor, said the State Secretariat controlled the investigation of a recent battery carried out upon an STB journalist, according to the President’s press-office.

“The President of Ukraine always reiterates that it is vital to strengthen freedom of speech in Ukraine. Freedom of speech is an achievement of Ukraine’s new government and the President will never give it up,” he said.

Poludionny said one of Kyiv’s police offices had almost completed the investigation of the incident having obvious signs of a crime and thus had sent the materials to the Pechersk District Prosecutor’s Office to initiate a criminal case.
