9,261 soldiers gain status of ATO participants
The status of participant in the Anti-Terrorist Operation has been granted to 9,261 soldiers of the Ukrainian armed forces as of March 11, Acting Speaker of the General Staff of Ukraine Vladyslav Selezniov said at a briefing in Kyiv on Wednesday, according to an UNIAN correspondent.
"Moreover, this week the Defense Ministry has prepared and submitted to the Interdepartmental Commission of the State Service for veterans of the ATO the documents of another 755 Ukrainian soldiers," he said.
"In general, the Interdepartmental Commission is considering the materials of 3,268 soldiers and officers of the Ukrainian armed forces with regard to granting them the status of participants of the ATO," Selezniov said.
As of February 26, the General Staff said about 8,500 Ukrainian soldiers had gained the status of participant of the ATO.
The status entitles those who have gained it to a range of government benefits.
