As reported earlier, the boy was delivered to the Pereiaslav-Khmelnytskyi central regional hospital on May 31 with a closed craniocerebral injury, brain contusion, intracerebral hematoma, and a fracture of the temporal bone. The child was found to be wounded by a bullet and was immediately transferred to a hospital in Kyiv.

On June 3, the boy died in hospital.

At present, the main version is that the child was accidentally wounded by the police officers, who under the influence of alcohol had staged a firearm shooting at metal cans and other objects near the place where the boy was walking. Both suspects were detained.

Initially, the police officers were accused of "reckless grievous bodily harm committed by a group of persons by prior agreement." However, on June 3, the State Bureau of Investigations reclassified the case into the murder and hooliganism.
