Yanukovych son believed buried in Russian-occupied Crimean Peninsula (Video)
The younger son of former Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych was reportedly buried on Monday in Sevastopol, in the Russian-occupied Ukrainian territory of Crimea.
A Reuters cameraman was witness to a lavish funeral at a military cemetery heavily cordoned off for the ceremony. A motorcade of black SUVs following a hearse was spotted, Ukraine Today reports.
An unidentified witness confirmed it was the funeral of Viktor Yanukovych, Jr.
According to Ukraine’s Ministry of Interior official, Viktor Yanukovych, Jr., 33, drowned in an accident involving a mini-van plunging under ice on the frozen Lake Baikal. The Russian authorities took time to confirm the incident.
Ousted former President Yanukovych has been living in Russia with his family ever since he fled from Ukraine amid last February’s mass protests in Kyiv.
