Ukraine's SBU blocks over 10 cyber attacks on state information resources in Nov
Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Oleksiy Danilov says the SBU Security Service of Ukraine and the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection blocked 11 cyber attacks on state information resources in November 2019.
"We constantly repel cyber attacks. All our special services operate in an extremely intense mode," he told the Segodnya newspaper, according to NSDC press service, adding that, enemy intelligence services are behind hacker groups that "inspire and direct their activities."
According to Danilov, the government's Cert-UA response team recorded more than 600 cyber incidents in the Ukrainian public sector last year and over 300 incidents in 2019, having responded to them accordingly.
"In the first half of this year, the SBU and the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection neutralized powerful DDoS attacks on state information resources, in particular, the CEC [Central Election Commission] website, and that of the Ukrainian president. Some 11 attacks were blocked in November alone," he said.
The NSDC secretary said that the establishment of a national cybersecurity system is underway, in which the National Cybersecurity Coordination Center will play a coordinating role.
