EU Visa Free Regime for Ukraine: What needs to be done? (Video)
Despite earlier positive expectations of Ukraine obtaining a European Schengen Zone visa-free regime at the Eastern Partnership Summit in Riga next week, the current conflict in the Donbas, and the many political and social challenges facing the country mean existing travel barriers for Ukrainians across the EU are still in place.
The European Commission admitted earlier that the country had achieved significant progress toward visa liberalization, but there still are tough requirements to be met before visa-free regime can be granted, Ukraine Today reports.
The Institute of World Policy together with the NGO Europe Without Barriers defined the six measures the Ukraine still needs to take up to lift travel restrictions, sought by many Ukrainians.
The most challenging among the six steps is most definitely the Fight against corruption while the others like improved refugee policy are also seen impossible to implement at short notice.
