The U.S. Embassy in Ukraine has condemned violence outside the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, on December 17.

"The United States supports the right to peaceful protests. We condemn violence against police and journalists, such as transpired outside the Rada today," the Embassy wrote on Twitter on December 17.

As UNIAN reported earlier, several thousand protesters blocked Hrushevskoho Street in Kyiv on Tuesday. People were rallying near the parliament's building, opposing the adoption of a bill on the sale of farmland.

Later, participants in the rally started a scuffle with the police, which turned into a clash. Two police officers were hospitalized amid clashes outside the Rada's building in Kyiv. There were also reports about injured protesters. Some media representatives said they had been attacked by police officers.
