Sales of non-agricultural lands through auctions proves the only way which enables to curb corruption in this area, Ukraine’s Top Deputy Prime Minister O.Turchynov believes, according to the government’s press-office.

“The only scheme effective to overcome corruption appears fair transparent auctions. Another mechanism for curbing corruption doesn’t just exist,” First Vice Prime Minister Olexandr Turchynov announced on responding to the questions by the media while attending Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.

On commenting the statement of the President of Ukraine that the second Govt’s resolution concerning sale of non-agricultural lands through auctions contributes to blossoming corruption, Olexandr Turchynov called it cynical.

“This has become a common practice that Secretariat of the President slings mud at the Cabinet of Ministers,” First Vice Prime Minister said, underlining that the Government “doesn’t feel support on the side of Secretariat of the President with regard to curbing corruption in Ukraine.”

At this Olexandr Turchynov expressed his confidence that Government would gain positive result concerning approval of this resolution. “Resolution on compulsory sale of land through auctions will be carried by the Cabinet of Ministers and we will not afford robbing our citizens relating to the issues of privatization as well as concerning distribution or selling of land resources,” First Vice Prime Minister emphasized.

According to Olexandr Turchynov the mentioned resolution will facilitate to settlement of colossal problems on the land market connected to non-transparent schemes, to the lack of competitive auction approach to solving the issue.

Besides, Olexandr Turcnynov assured that the land problem should be addressed in Kyiv. “We must curb corruption, stop disorder Kyiv faces in these issues,” he stressed.
