During the meeting with the judges the Premier Yuriy Yekhanurov emphasized the important meaning of the Supreme Court of Ukraine and personal contribution of Vasyl Malyarenko to the formation of Ukraine, development of judicial authority, according to the press-office of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. “Implementing the principle of supremacy of law, You reliably guaranteed the protection of rights and freedoms of the citizens, defended the national interests. Owing to Your personal efforts a legal reform is currently being carried out which aims at strengthening judicial authority in the independent democratic society” Yuriy Yekhanurov emphasized.
Prime Minister presented Vasyl Malyarenko with a memorable sign and Diploma of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, stressing that the Government pays high tribute to the services he rendered to the introduction of legal reform in Ukraine and realizes the necessity of proper material resources for the development of judicial system.
Vasyl Malyarenko disclosed that term of his office comes to the end on October 18, 2006. “I can tell you that you are always to leave your post at the proper time and the time has now come for me”, he said.
The Head of Government hopes that the Parliament will unblock the Constitutional Court as soon as possible. Vasyl Malyarenko added that the Head of Constitutional Court swears in the presence of the Head of Supreme Court. Unless the Head is absent his duties shall fulfill the first deputy.
