The Cabinet of Ministers doesn’t intervene in the policy of the National Bank of Ukraine. Yulia Tymoshenko said this during a meeting with journalists in Minsk on the outcomes of the meeting of heads of governments of the CIS member-states, according to the government’s press-office.

Prime Minister of Ukraine emphasized that according to the Constitution of Ukraine the Government is not empowered with authority to influence the policy of the National Bank of Ukraine. According to the head of Government, all the issues concerning monetary policy, currency fluctuations are exceptionally the functions of National Bank. “Government cannot influence here,” Yulia Tymoshenko stressed.

At the same time the Head of Government of Ukraine expressed her dissatisfaction with the fact that the Council of the National Bank has been created on the political basis. According to her, the politics starts intervention into the National Bank’s activity as within the recent time certain discord emerges in positions of members of the NBU Council and the Bank itself.

Yulia Tymoshenko added that Government is not related to these processes. “I’d like the National Bank of Ukraine would be independent of the politics and any power branches as it is in the majority of the world countries,” the Head of Government emphasized.
