An extraordinary Government sitting considered on Monday the issue of liquidation of of the accident consequences at the Karl Marx mine in Yenakiyevo, according to the government’s press-office.
In particular, Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko stated: “Such terrible accidents are result of the destruction of a coal sphere during 17 years, enormous corruption in this sphere when public funds for development of the sphere failed to reach mines”.
Taking into consideration the fact that explosions concern generally the mines at a depth of above 1 km the Prime Minister has commissioned to register all mines extracting coal at such depth, explore the production volume, determine the number of workers, analyze the situation with accident rate at such enterprises, with the purpose to adopt a decision on the procedure of their further exploitation.
Yulia Tymoshenko has commissioned the Ministry of Coal Industry to draft a complex of measures aiming at preventing such accidents and approve it at a sitting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Wednesday.
The Government has endorsed a decision on allocating funds for liquidation of the accident consequences, rescue works and aid to the miners’ families suffered as a result of the accident at the mine named after K.Marx.
The Government Commission, chaired by First Vice Prime Minister Oleksandr Turchynov, regulates for the second day already the rescue operation of the people who were underground during the accident at the Karl Marx mine in Yenakiyevo.
