President Victor Yushchenko held a meeting with heads of delegations and representatives of the Secretariat of the Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting, according to the President`s press-office.
At the meeting sides discussed scientific exploration of the continent and Ukraine’s participation in the process. “I would like you to regard Ukraine’s participation in exploration of Antarctica as an expression of our responsibility for advance of world’s scientific knowledge and development of technologies and environment protection”, - said Victor Yushchenko in his word.
He also assured the participants of the meeting that Ukraine strictly observes the Antarctica Treaty and promotes preservation of its neutrality and unification oof efforts aimed at its exploration. “I am assured that efforts of all the researchers of the distant icy continent will always present an example of service to the cause of mankind, nature and future”, - stressed Victor Yushchenko.
