OSCE Disgrace: Monitors spotted at Russian-backed separatist wedding
OSCE special monitoring mission in Ukraine has reacted to another scandal involving its employees as Luhansk journalist Yevhen Spirin on April 7 published a photo which shows OSCE monitors as part of a wedding party of a local militant's daughter, according to Ukraine Today.
"It would be a regular separatist wedding with a limousine snatched away from somebody, restaurant, thugs in military uniform and toothless drunks, but there's one detail – OSCE representatives at the party," Spirin writes on his social media page, adding he feels indignant, that employees of a supposedly independent mission are hugging local bandits and cheering about their lavish wedding, Ukraine Today reports.
In response to social media posting, the OSCE SMM said it regrets the incident:
"Even though the monitors did not attend the wedding as such, the photo clearly shows misjudgement on their part. These monitors are no longer with the Mission," press statement reads.
The SMM added it "ensures rigorously that its monitors abide by the code of conduct, which stipulates inter alia impartiality and objectiveness.
