“If anybody tells that these are standard deflation months [the summer months]… I have in my hands the July showings for the last 10 years. And I may state that we produced one of the best showings for all the periods – namely in July”, the Prime Minister emphasized, adding that the last year’s inflation in July was 1.4%.

Yulia Tymoshenko pointed out that “significant deflation showings” were recorded in 21 Oblasts, while 8 regions did “a sloppy work” in this sphere .

Among the best regions, Yulia Tymoshenko mentioned the city of Symferopol, where July deflation was recorded at 2.2%, Zakarpattya Oblast – 1.4%, and Luhansk Oblast – 1.3%.

The deflation in the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast made up 1.1%. At the same time, the Prime Minister stressed, this Oblast suffered most of all from the natural disaster.

Among the Oblasts that worsened the general deflation figures, Yulia Tymoshenko mentioned the Khmelnytskiy Oblast with its inflation at 0.5%, the Chernihiv Oblast – inflation at 0.3%, the Zhytomyr Oblast – inflation at 0.3%, and the Kyiv Oblast – the inflation at 0.2%.

The Prime Minister stressed there are no objective prerequisites for inflation in Ukraine as of today. According to Yulia Tymoshenko, the only reason of inflation is the insufficient work of regional officials towards this direction.

If the situation develops the same way, Ukraine may expect deflation in August as well, Yulia Tymoshenko noted.

Besides, the Prime Minister pointed out, if any region will show inflation while all the others show deflation, “they will submit their resignations”. “I promise it in presence of the government and mass media. Stop treating your country like this”, Yulia Tymoshenko said.
