Sandra Rulofs, the wife of Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, flew from Georgia to the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea together with President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko. Their plane landed at Belbek military air base not far from Sevastopol.
Earlier she had brought in Ukraine her children – Nikolaz and Edward Saakashvili, who remained at #8 state cottage in Mukhalatka village, under supervision of Kateryna Yushchenko.
This cottage is probably not that comfortable, but it is perfectly guarded and guarantees a high security of VIP-persons staying there, Segodnya newspaper informs. According to the information of the newspaper, the supervision systems allow to detect objects at a distance of 1.5 – 2 kilometers. The sea is guarded by special patrol cutters.
Yet in the Soviet times this place was a favorite one for Volodymyr Shcherbytskiy, the first secretary of the Communist Party of Ukraine, and USSR Foreign Minister Andrei Gromyko.
After the Soviet Union dissolved, ex-President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma used to stay there. Ex-President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin also stayed there twice when he paid visits to the Crimea.
Victor Yushchenko brought a new outstanding feature to Mukhalatka – ten bee hives.
