President Victor Yushchenko met today United States Senators Joseph Lieberman and Lindsey Graham who visited Ukraine on their way to Georgia as personal representatives of presidential candidate John McCain, according to the President`s press-office.
At the meeting sides discussed situation in Georgia, Ukraine’s and America’s position towards the conflict, Euro-Atlantic aspirations of our country within the context of Georgian events, Ukrainian-American bilateral relations, etc.
Speaking about Ukraine’s ambition to join NATO president Yushchenko said that America’s support in this question is very important for Ukraine. He also added that the events in Georgia have proven collective
security model to be the most effective protection of sovereignty of any state.
Beside that President emphasized that key priority for Ukraine is “forming a clear and democratic course”.
