Land Forces Academy to open in Lviv
Another step taken in reforming Ukrainian Army
The President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko has confirmed, Land Forces Academy would be opened in Lvіv, and calls politicians not to discuss this question more. He told it journalists in Naguevichi, home village of poet and writer Ivan Franko in Lviv oblast, according to the President’s press-office.
“As Commander-in-Chief, I have accepted a proposal by Department of defense to create the proper Land Forces Academy in Lviv”, President said.
The Head of State assured, Department of defense was exceptionally responsible for that question, and warned representatives of other power structures to “stop discussion on this question”.
The President emphasized, opening this Academy was a necessary step in reforms of a Ukrainian army, which, in addition, foresees diminishing of quantity of army and gradual passing to contract service. “That is why I would ask to submit to the decisions accepted within the framework of national strategy”, the President said.
