Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Timoshenko hopes for concluding a 2009 gas supply deal with Moscow later this week, according to Itar-Tass.

“I do hope I shall be able to come to terms with Gazprom and the Russian prime minister and the government. I cannot make any plans for certain, but it is my hope I shall manage,” Timoshenko said. “In that case by October 21, the day when the national parliament will start discussing the state budget in the first reading there will be signed contracts between Naftogaz Ukrainy and Gazprom.”
