As of today, Ukraine does not suffer from any serious negative consequences of the world financial crisis.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko claimed this at the session of the Cabinet of Ministers on Thursday.

“Both the government and the central bank, and all the country’s institutions, work today absolutely reasonably and logically, and, as of today, the world financial crisis has not developed in Ukraine into any tough forms”, Yulia Tymoshenko emphasized.

At the same time, she stressed that Ukraine faces problems in the metallurgical complex, connected with recession in demand on metal-roll.

However, thanks to steps undertaken by the government, the Prime Minister said, “we can efficiently withstand this challenge”.

Yulia Tymoshenko noted that the banking system of Ukraine is reliable and stable, and, as for the situation with Prominvestbank, “it was a separate raider operation, and not any consequence of the world financial crisis”.

“As for other components, you know that the country works and operates absolutely normally. It is connected, besides, with the fact that Ukraine is not integrated with world financial markets”, the Prime Minister stressed.

Yulia Tymoshenko pointed out that, despite the financial crisis, Ukraine keeps on showing rather high economic results, including the GDP growth.
