President celebrates West Ukrainian National Republic proclamation

In Lviv President Victor Yushchenko took part in celebration of the 90th anniversary of West Ukrainian National Republic proclamation, according to the President`s press-office.

Speaking at the event President Yushchenko congratulated Ukrainians with the date and called proclamation of West Ukrainian National Republic an exhibit of immortality of Ukrainian nationhood.

He also praised incentive to open a Museum of Struggle for Ukraine’s Liberation in Lviv saying: “I directly put the assignment before local authorities to implement this wonderful idea”.

President Yushchenko emphasized that it is important for the nation to remember its history. “Ukrainian state is built upon this history”, - he added.
