President promises no changes in foreign policy
Ukraine strives for EU and NATO membership
In an interview for Milano Finanza (Italy), Victor Yushchenko has said Ukraine would not change its foreign course, being committed to the principles of democracy and economic development, and striving for membership in the European Union and NATO, according to the President’s press-office.
“We have built a state with European state institutions and confirmed the nation’s Euro-Atlantic course,” he said.
“We must continue developing Ukraine democratically, protect human rights and ensure stability and unitary form of government in the country. We must work to join WTO and integrate into the European Union and NATO,” he added.
The Head of State said consolidation of the nation and economic prosperity were among the major challenges facing Ukraine’s political elite.
