Tarasyuk calls on UN to recognize Holodomor as genocide

Foreign Minister of Ukraine Borys Tarasyuk calls on UN to recognize that the artificial famine of 1932-33 in Ukraine was an act of genocide, deliberately organized by the Communist totalitarian regime in order to destroy the basis of the Ukrainian nation – the peasantry.

According to the UN press-office, he claimed this, speaking at the 61st session of the UN General Assembly on 25 September.

B.Tarasyuk is convinced that it could become a contribution of UN into the preparation of the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Convention for preventing and punishing crimes in the sphere of genocide.
