Victor Yushchenko and his wife have honored the Babyn Yar victims by placing candles at the Babyn Yar memorial, according to the President`s press-office.
Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych, Verkhovna Rada Speaker Oleksandr Moroz, Israeli President Moshe Katsav, Croatian President Stjepan Mesic, Montenegrin President Filip Vujanovic, Azeri Speaker Oktay Asadov, Chairman of the Russian Council of Federation Sergey Mironov, Lithuanian Deputy Speaker Vydas Gedvilas, Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister Emel Etem, Slovak Deputy Prime Minister Dušan Čaplovič as well as diplomats and envoys representing Belgium, Great Britain, Cyprus, the Netherlands, Hungary, Finland, France, Georgia, Poland and the United States of America attended the ceremony.
They observed one minute of silence. Church leaders prayed for the dead.
