Victor Yushchenko has sent a letter to Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych with a request to create adequate conditions for the functioning of the Supreme Administrative Court and particularly provide the court with a new building, according to the President’s press-office.

The President added that he was worried about the poor implementation of the state program to provide courts with new premises, claiming that it posed a threat to the independence of Ukraine’s judicial system.

“The above-mentioned facts are among several negative factors impeding the successful implementation of judicial reforms in Ukraine in accordance with the approved Concept on the Improvement of Legal Proceedings, aimed at creating independent courts of the European standard in Ukraine,” he said, adding that the country’s major political leaders had agreed to implement this Concept in the National Unity Pact.
