President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko does not rule out that Ukraine will have to pay out debts of RosUkrEnergo, which were transferred to Naftohaz Ukrayiny, from the state budget.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, he said this opening a session of the National Security and Defense Council on Tuesday.
Victor Yushchenko stressed he even does not want to comment on manipulations with transferring rights on somebody’s else gas to Naftohaz Ukrayiny.
“I just really have doubts, why a Ukrainian state gas company undertakes to collect the questionable payment, which belonged to Gazprom and Russia. Let Gazprom take the payment, because it is a single company [with RosUkrEnergo - UNIAN]”, he said.
The President believes that Gazprom itself should have been busy with its problem debts, and not transfer it to Naftohaz, pushing the Ukrainian company to a scandal, which, in his opinion, may finally force Ukraine to allocate means from the state budget.
Victor Yushchenko also called cynical the statements about refusing intermediaries in the Ukrainian-Russian gas relations. He noted he would not like to tell the events preceding the appearance of the intermediary, to avoid accusations of being connected with RosUkrEnergo.
“I was never busy with your smelly gas”, he emphasized.
At the same time, the President pointed out that statements that today there is no gas intermediary in Ukraine are false.
“We, being lulled with this lie, reached an agreement within frames of the signed contracts on forming a unique intermediary, which received 25% of the whole imported gas”, he said.
