The response of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry to the statement of Ambassador Extraordinary and Pleipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Ukraine was adequate and timely.
According to an UNIAN correspondent, Foreign Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Ohryzko claimed this to journalists on Wednesday.
“There is no procedure, under which an Ambassador affords such statements staying in the country of his mission. If Ambassador of Ukraine to RF Kostyantyn Hryshchenko afforded such a statement, he would be in Kyiv in 10 minutes”, V.Ohryzko said.
He stressed that the response of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry was timely and adequate.
“We issued him a warning, and now everything will depend on Mr.Ambassador Chernomyrdin”, V.Ohryzko said.
In the opinion of V.Ohryzko, every citizen of Ukraine would react the same way if he read V.Chernomyrdin’s statements in Komsomolskaya Pravda, in particular, where he said that the Ukrainian leadership “has no brains”.
As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry has rebuked ‘the hostile and extremely undiplomatic’ comments by Russian ambassador Viktor Chernomyrdin. Kyiv has threatened to expel the diplomat for his recent blunt interview.
