President may change foreign policy
New priorities may be introduced
Victor Yushchenko has told reporters he will accept changes into the law on the fundamentals of Ukraine’s home and foreign policy, which was passed thirteen years ago, if they are “truly significant” and concern issues that have become topical in the past years, according to the President`s press-office. Among such issues, he said, were new political, economic, social and humanitarian priorities.
The President, however, said he would deny changes aimed at “turning the document in the direction of conservation, especially of those political outlooks and activities that have recently appeared in Ukraine.”
Mr. Yushchenko added he would appreciate if these amendments were consistent with the principles of the National Unity Pact.
